ABOUT US

PETER BARBER, CPA
Tel: 907-440-5140
Peter is licensed as a certified public accountant by the Alaska State Board of Public Accountancy. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. He has a B.A. in Business Administration-Accounting from the University of Alaska. He is a fourth-generation Alaskan and has spent over 30 years providing accounting services to Alaska-based businesses, rural communities, tribes, and city governments.
With a goal of providing exceptional services, Peter is focused on finding creative solutions and developing manageable processes for his clients. Specifically, his services are designed to improve tribal governance capabilities and structure.
Unique to Mr. Barber’s qualifications is his recent engagement with the City of Nuiqsut providing professional accounting services, support, and training. During this period, Peter also served as the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of the Nuiqsut Community Development Foundation, a non-profit organization established to provide capacity to the City of Nuiqsut in its governmental operations.
Additionally, Peter is a keen strategist and adept at managing projects of a variety of sizes. His ability to see potential problems before they arise makes him a natural problem solver. He applies this to finding creative solutions for clients and developing training programs to build internal capacity. He has developed policy and procedure manuals for organizations and has been instrumental in developing multi-year budgets and providing financial management for grant administration. Furthermore, he has provided grant evaluation services, developed logic models and outcome frameworks to determine the success of programs.
